XEB La B Grande 1220 AM is one of Mexico's oldest and most historic radio stations. Founded in 1923, it was the first licensed radio station in Mexico City. Today, it is part of the Instituto Mexicano de la Radio (IMER) public radio network.
The station broadcasts on 1220 AM with 100,000 watts of power, making it one of the most powerful AM stations in North America. Its programming combines music shows featuring Spanish-language hits from the 1940s to 1970s with news and informational content. XEB is known for its classic romantic, tropical, and traditional Mexican music.
As part of IMER, XEB carries national news programming and serves as an important public broadcaster. The station's slogan "La B Grande de México" ("The Big B of Mexico") was coined in the 1960s and reflects its longstanding prominence in Mexican radio. With its mix of nostalgic music and public affairs programming, XEB continues to be a cultural institution in Mexico City after nearly a century on the air.
