Super Rádio Tupi is a Brazilian radio station based in Rio de Janeiro. Founded on September 25, 1935, by journalist Assis Chateaubriand, it is one of the oldest and most popular radio stations in Brazil. The station was inaugurated with the presence of Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of radio.
Initially known as "Cacique do Ar" (Chief of the Air), Super Rádio Tupi quickly became a competitor to the then-dominant Radio Nacional. Throughout its history, the station has been at the forefront of important events, being the first Brazilian broadcaster to announce the end of World War II.
Today, Super Rádio Tupi broadcasts on both AM (1280 kHz) and FM (96.5 MHz) frequencies. It offers a diverse programming lineup focusing on news, sports, and entertainment. The station's flagship news program is "Sentinela da Tupi," which airs for 5 minutes at 55 minutes past each hour.
Super Rádio Tupi prides itself on being "the voice of the people," maintaining a strong connection with its audience. Its current slogan is "A Tupi é o Povo, O Povo é a Tupi" (Tupi is the People, the People are Tupi), reflecting its commitment to serving the local community.
