CBLA-FM, known as CBC Radio One Toronto, is the flagship station of the CBC Radio One network in Canada. Broadcasting at 99.1 FM, it serves Toronto and much of Southern Ontario. The station began operations in 1925 as CKGW and has undergone several call sign changes before adopting its current CBLA-FM identity in 1999 when it moved to the FM band.
As part of CBC Radio One, CBLA-FM offers a mix of news, current affairs, and cultural programming. Its local morning show, "Metro Morning," has been Toronto's top-rated radio program since 2004. Other notable local programs include the afternoon show "Here and Now" and the weekend arts and culture magazine "Big City, Small World."
The station's transmitter is located atop First Canadian Place in downtown Toronto, while its studios are housed in the Canadian Broadcasting Centre. CBLA-FM plays a crucial role in delivering national CBC programming to listeners in Canada's largest city, as well as producing content that reflects the diverse communities of the Greater Toronto Area.
