Radio Orient is an Arab international radio station based in Paris, France, with retransmissions in various cities across France, Europe, and the Arab world. Established in October 1981 by Lebanese media entrepreneur Raghid El Chammah, it was later acquired by Prime Minister Rafic Hariri in 1994. The station broadcasts primarily in Arabic, with some programming and news in French.
Focusing on Arab World and Middle Eastern issues, Radio Orient caters to the Arab diaspora and Muslim communities in France and Europe. It operates with a moderate and tolerant Arab perspective, respecting France's secular traditions.
The station's programming includes news, cultural shows, and music. It is part of Les Indés Radios, an economic interest group comprising 125 local radio stations in France. Radio Orient also runs a parallel station in Lebanon, mostly with independent programming but rebroadcasting some news from the Paris feed.
With transmissions on various frequencies across France and parts of Northern Africa and Western Asia, Radio Orient serves as a cultural bridge between the East and West, fostering understanding and dialogue between different communities.
