Radio 1 is a private Swiss radio station based in Zurich. It was founded in 2008 by media entrepreneur Roger Schawinski, who transformed the former Radio Tropic into Radio 1. The station targets listeners aged 30-60 and plays songs from the last 30 years as well as current quality music.
Radio 1's programming includes daily columns by renowned journalists and expert segments on topics like cinema, health, economics, law, fashion, cooking, lifestyle, music, fitness and literature. On Sundays at 11 AM, Roger Schawinski interviews a guest on the hour-long "Doppelpunkt" show, which is repeated at 7 PM.
The station can be heard via FM in the Zurich region and parts of eastern Switzerland, as well as via DAB+ and cable in other areas of the country. Radio 1 positions itself as an alternative to other private radio stations that often cater to younger audiences, focusing instead on providing quality content for adult listeners.
